A Pirate's Life

The aim of this project was to create a two dimensional action adventure game with a pirate theme, designed to be played by children aged between five and eight.

Project Description

"A Pirate's Life" is a two dimensional action adventure game that was developed using the game creation system, Game Maker: Studio. The game was designed using a pirate theme as it is targeted towards children between the ages of five and eight. The game's assets were developed in Adobe: Flash, as the software offers a greater amount of variation when creating artwork, than Game Maker: Studio's internal pixel editor.

Project Findings

The project partners found through testing that the game was generally well received with our target audience. Constructive feedback was primarily focused on the game's challenging puzzles and variety of levels. We found that the target age group which was between the ages of five and eight found the game to be an enjoyable activity.
