To identify and categorize opinions expressed in a tweet, in order to determine whether the tweets have a positive, negative, or neutral tone.
A Python script was created to access Twitter tweets using their streaming API. The tweet data was stored in a JSON file while a second Python script filtered this file to extract critical tweet variables. A third Python script analysed and stored the data in JSON format to allow for the creation of a number of visualisations including word trees, pie charts, maps and time charts using the visualisation application D3.js.
A mix of negative and positive sentiments were captured from the data collected.
