A Project on Persuasive Technology.
To see if user behaviour can be influenced online.
Persuading people through technology is the next social revolution. Facebook demonstrates just how powerful it can be. Persuading through simplifying is the aim for this project. The top solutions for design today change human behaviour. In spite of all the research that has been done it is still difficult for designers to build creations that are so compelling that users are driven online and held there. The art of building these compelling designs is called Persuasive Technology. The field of persuasive tech has expanded rapidly over the past decade and now its importance is being recognised more than ever. Persuasive technology is now being used across all sectors, from e-commerce websites trying to attract new clients to bloggers trying to get people to sign up to their mailing list. This project examines some of the psychological design techniques which have been developed through many various user tests for altering user behaviour online. This includes both traditional mouse-based and mobile approaches to using the web, as well as how these tests are measured for feedback and the different approaches to measuring various types of behaviour online.
This project found that user behaviour can be influenced online by applying various psychological principles to elements of web pages.
